Victoria Conservation Park is a vast, untamed wilderness on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island, offering a true backcountry experience. This park is a haven for hikers and nature lovers, with ancient podocarp forests, rugged mountains, and pristine rivers. It's less frequented than some other parks, so you'll often have the trails to yourself, immersing in the raw beauty of the region.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Allocate at least 2–3 days to truly appreciate Victoria Conservation Park. This allows for a couple of day hikes, exploring the lakes and rivers, and a visit to the goldfields. If you're short on time, a full day can cover the highlights: a morning at Lake Kaniere and an afternoon at Hokitika Gorge.
