Matheson Lake

Matheson Lake, often called Lake Matheson, is a mirror-like gem nestled near Franz Josef on New Zealand's West Coast. Famous for its perfectly still waters that reflect Aoraki/Mount Cook and Mount Tasman, this lake offers arguably the most iconic mountain reflection shot in the country. The surrounding podocarp forest is prime kiwi habitat, and the easy loop track makes it accessible for all.
