Mount Aspiring National Park is a rugged wilderness of glaciated peaks, ancient beech forests, and turquoise rivers, part of the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site. It's a paradise for trampers and climbers, with the iconic Tititea/Mount Aspiring (3,033 m) as its centerpiece. The park offers some of New Zealand's most spectacular alpine scenery, accessible via the Matukituki Valley or from the Haast Pass highway.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Dedicate at least two full days to explore the park's highlights. One day allows for a major hike like Rob Roy Glacier (3–4 hours) plus waterfall stops along Haast Pass. A second day opens up longer tramps like the Cascade Saddle or a drive to the remote Jackson Bay for coastal views. If you're short on time, a day trip from Wanaka (1.5 hours away) can cover the Blue Pools and a short walk.
