Kaiteriteri Beach is the golden gateway to Abel Tasman National Park, a postcard-perfect crescent of golden sand lapped by impossibly clear turquoise water. Sheltered by native bush-clad hills, this is the kind of beach that makes you want to drop everything and stay forever. It’s the main launching point for kayak trips, water taxis, and sailing adventures into the park, but it’s also a brilliant spot for a simple swim or a sunset stroll.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend a full day or half a day at Kaiteriteri, especially if combining it with a water-taxi trip into Abel Tasman. For a relaxed beach day with a walk to Split Apple Rock, allow 3–4 hours. If you plan to bike the mountain bike park or do a longer kayak trip, a full day is ideal. Many travellers use Kaiteriteri as a base for 2–3 nights to fully explore the national park.
