Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend half a day exploring Gibbston Valley, making it an easy stop between Queenstown and Cromwell or Wanaka. If you're a keen wine lover, plan for a full afternoon to visit three or four wineries, enjoy a tasting lunch, and take a short walk. Cyclists can easily fill 4–5 hours pedalling the trail and stopping at cellar doors. The valley is best visited between late spring and autumn (October to April) when the vines are lush and the weather is warm.
