The Ahuriri River is one of New Zealand's most pristine braided rivers, flowing through the dramatic landscapes of the Mackenzie Basin in North Otago. Its turquoise waters, wide shingle beds, and remote alpine setting make it a must-visit for nature lovers and photographers. The river is also a significant habitat for native birds, including the endangered black stilt, and offers excellent opportunities for fly fishing, tramping, and wildlife spotting.
