Larnach Castle
Perched high on the Otago Peninsula, Larnach Castle is New Zealand's only castle, a baronial mansion built by banker and politician William Larnach in 1871 for his beloved wife. The castle is a lavish blend of European opulence and colonial ambition, set within 14 hectares of stunning gardens. It offers a fascinating glimpse into 19th-century high society, with original furnishings, intricate woodwork, and panoramic views across Dunedin and the Pacific Ocean.
