You can enjoy the lake views and a quick salmon stop in as little as 30 minutes, but to fully appreciate the area and perhaps take a short walk, allow 1–2 hours. It's best visited as a scenic detour en route to Aoraki Mount Cook Village or as a rest stop between Tekapo and Twizel.
