Plunging 22 metres into a deep, mossy gorge, Mclean Falls is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the Catlins. The walk to the falls winds through lush native forest alive with birdlife, leading you to a series of tiered cascades that thunder into a crystal-clear pool. It's a short, rewarding hike that immerses you in the raw beauty of New Zealand's southern wilderness.

Allow 1–1.5 hours for the return walk and time to soak in the views. The track is well-maintained and suitable for most fitness levels. Visit in the morning or late afternoon for softer light and fewer crowds. Combine with other Catlins highlights like the Cathedral Caves or Nugget Point for a full day of exploration.
