Tekapo can be enjoyed in a day trip, but staying overnight is highly recommended to experience the incredible night sky. Two days allows you to explore the lake, hike the Mount John track, and visit the hot springs without rushing. If you're combining with nearby Aoraki/Mount Cook, plan at least three days in the region.
