Cathedral Cove is a stunning natural archway and beach on the Coromandel Peninsula, accessible only by foot or water. The iconic limestone arch frames turquoise waters and golden sand, creating a scene that feels almost otherworldly. This is a place where you can truly connect with New Zealand's dramatic coastal beauty.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Plan for at least half a day. The walk from the carpark to the cove and back takes about 1.5–2 hours, plus time to explore the beach and swim. Combine with a morning at Hahei Beach and you've got a perfect full morning or afternoon. If you're kayaking, allow 3–4 hours for a guided tour. Arrive early (before 9am) to avoid crowds and secure parking.
