New Zealand's Parliament Buildings, known collectively as the Beehive, form the political heart of the nation. The complex includes the Edwardian neo-classical Parliament House, the modernist Beehive (Executive Wing), and the Gothic Revival Parliamentary Library. Free guided tours offer a fascinating glimpse into the country's democratic processes, with highlights including the debating chamber, the ornate Grand Hall, and the Mace. The grounds are also home to the Cenotaph war memorial and offer sweeping views of Wellington Harbour.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Allow 1.5 to 2 hours for a guided tour and self-exploration of the grounds. If you're keen on New Zealand politics or architecture, combine it with a visit to the nearby National Library or the Old Government Buildings. Morning tours are less crowded, and the complex is easily walkable from central Wellington.
