Rising dramatically above Queenstown, The Remarkables are one of New Zealand's most iconic mountain ranges, offering a stunning backdrop for outdoor adventures. Their jagged, serrated peaks are visible from much of the Wakatipu Basin, and the area is a paradise for skiers, hikers, and nature lovers. In winter, the Remarkables ski field provides excellent slopes for all abilities, while summer brings superb hiking trails with breathtaking alpine views.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors spend a full day here, whether skiing in winter or hiking in summer. If you're just doing the scenic drive and a short walk, allow half a day. For serious hikers tackling the main range, plan for a full day (6–8 hours). The area is easily accessible from Queenstown, so you can combine it with other activities in the region.
