Dunedin Railway Station

Dunedin Railway Station is a magnificent example of Flemish Renaissance architecture, often called New Zealand's most photographed building. Built in 1906, its intricate mosaic floors, stained-glass windows, and ornate facade make it a must-see landmark. The station is still a working railway hub, with the Taieri Gorge Railway departing from here.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Allow 1–2 hours to explore the station's interior and take photos. If you plan to ride the Taieri Gorge Railway, set aside a full day (the round-trip takes about 5–6 hours). The station is a quick stop from the Octagon, so you can easily combine it with other city attractions.
