Minnehaha Walk is a short, enchanting loop through ancient temperate rainforest near Fox Glacier, offering a glimpse into the lush, moss-draped world of New Zealand's West Coast. The easy, well-maintained trail is especially magical after dark, when glowworms illuminate the forest floor like a starry sky. It's a perfect quick escape into nature, accessible year-round and suitable for all fitness levels.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Allow 20–30 minutes for the loop if you're walking at a leisurely pace. Most visitors combine it with a daytime visit to Fox Glacier or Lake Matheson. For the glowworm experience, arrive just before sunset and bring a torch (use red light to avoid disturbing the glowworms). The walk is best as a 1-hour evening excursion, including time to find parking and adjust your eyes to the dark.
