Treble Cone is South Island's largest ski area, renowned for its vast, uncrowded slopes and breathtaking alpine scenery. Overlooking Lake Wānaka and the Southern Alps, this all-natural snow field offers a raw, backcountry feel with steep chutes, wide cruisers, and endless off-piste terrain. It's a mecca for advanced skiers and snowboarders, but intermediates will also find plenty of long, sweeping runs to explore.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Dedicate a full day to explore the sprawling terrain; the ski field is large enough to keep you busy from first chair to last. If you're a powder hound, plan for multiple days, especially after a fresh dump. The drive from Wānaka takes about 35 minutes (last 10 km on unsealed road), so leave early to maximize time on snow.
