Rising like a great white sentinel above the Southern Alps, Aoraki Mount Cook is New Zealand's highest peak and the heart of a dramatic alpine landscape. The air here is crisp and thin, the silence broken only by the crack of glaciers and the kea's wild call. This is a place for those who feel the pull of the mountains – a realm of ice, rock, and sky that demands respect and rewards with breathtaking beauty.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most visitors find 1–2 days ideal. With one day, you can complete the Hooker Valley Track and visit the Tasman Glacier viewpoint. Add a second day for a longer hike like the Mueller Hut (book the hut in advance) or a scenic flight over the peaks. If you're short on time, even a half-day stop to walk the Hooker Valley is worthwhile.
