Lake Rotoroa, meaning 'long lake' in Māori, is a serene alpine lake nestled in the Lewis Pass National Reserve, about 30 minutes northwest of Hanmer Springs. Its turquoise waters, fed by the Boyle River, are framed by beech forest and snow-capped mountains, offering a pristine escape into nature. This is a place for quiet contemplation, gentle walks, and spotting native birdlife like the South Island robin and kea.
