The Boyle River Walk is a gentle, family-friendly tramp through the beech forests and river flats of the Lewis Pass region, offering a serene escape into New Zealand's backcountry. This well-maintained track follows the Boyle River, crossing swingbridges and passing through lush native bush with occasional glimpses of the surrounding mountains. It's a perfect leg-stretcher for those driving between Hanmer Springs and the West Coast, or a peaceful day walk for nature lovers.

Highlights & What to See

Suggested Time to Spend

Most walkers allow 2–3 hours for the full return walk (about 6 km). The track is flat and easy, so you could easily combine it with a picnic lunch or a short detour to the nearby Lewis Pass Hot Pools. If you're driving through, a 90-minute stop is sufficient to get a good taste of the forest and river scenery.
