ANZAC Day
25 April each year
Observed on 25 April, ANZAC Day commemorates the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACs) who landed at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 during World War I. Today it honours all New Zealanders who have served and died in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. Dawn services are held across New Zealand, with the largest at Gallipoli in Turkey. ANZAC Day is one of only two public holidays in New Zealand that cannot be Mondayised (the other being Waitangi Day).
